Project descriptioN

The project responds to the needs of LGBTQIA+ migrants, a minority within a group already exposed to multiple vulnerabilities also in the form of pre-, peri-, and post-migration traumatic events. The objectives are the following: a) Strengthen and monitor the application of the framework of protections provided first and foremost by International and Constitutional Law within the asylum application formalization and assessment process, through multi-agency collaborations aimed at activities of identification, assistance and social integration of LGBTQIA+ migrants who are victims, survivors, or at risk of gender-based violence; b) Promote initiatives for the detection, support and social integration of LGBTQIA+ migrants, encouraging and supporting the development of life paths grounded in autonomy and social participation as means of escaping violence — which were previously obstructed by gender-based oppression. This will be achieved through additional health and social care as well as the connection to training courses, career guidance, identification of housing options (including emergency housing) within the network of local service network; c) To provide multi-site and multidisciplinary support interventions that address the simultaneous needs that the target population may experience, as both subjects and objects of socio-cultural and political-national dynamics – dynamics also present in the host country – and which have the potential to generate or perpetuate gender-based violence, exclusion, or social fragmentation; d) To support local service teams, as well as institutions responsible for determining the outcomes of international protection requests, in the care and approach to LGBTQIA+ individuals who have experienced, or are at risk of, gender-based violence. This support will be provided through written or in-person consultations on specific cases, as well as training and exchange sessions aimed at LGBTQIA+ associations, service providers, language mediators, and institutional personnel.
